Shifting into 5th by mistake...

It's not a major issue and already fading but my previous owner mentioned something about the gate for 5th being stuck open meaning I'll slot into there when I'm not being careful. This sound right? How much is involved in fixing it?

It's already less of a problem than it originally was, I think a good deal of it comes from the completely different gearbox feel to the Miata.
